In April, one of my pictures was used in a full-page ad in the USA Today. It was about 2x2 inches in a collage of photos. It was reprinted once. They paid for that specific use.
I'm NOT a professional photographer at all and I have never had anyone buy any of my photos before (nor do am I actively pursuing it for money).
Now I was just contacted again, and because the ad campaign was popular, they want to continue to use it in posters and "Other uses [that] would include, but are not limited to, website, [corporate] internal use, and Dealer ads."
So what they really want is: "(18) months exclusive unlimited worldwide use in any and all media."
I don't know what that is worth and I don't know if I should hold out for whatever I ask for, or simply take what they are offering. What's the going rate for something like that?
I'm excited that they want to pay me money, but I don't want to be taken advantage of either. Any advice for me and what I should ask for?
Would it be unreasonable for me to accept what they're offering, but also ask that they send me a copy of each format they use it in? (i.e. posters, brochures, etc. to stroke my own ego ;) )
