Shutterbugs Photo Contest (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=281626911) at Myspace holds a weekly Photo contest that we believe is worth checking out.!!!!!
Below is a quick run down.

Each week a new theme is posted.
You have one week to enter your photo.
It must be an original and we ask that camera settings be included along with camera type and model.(Auto is acceptable.)
One entry per contestants.
All levels of photographers may enter, and you may use photoshop.
During the course of the week people will leave professional, kind critiques, and votes may be cast at any time.
We do ask that people wait until the contest has ended, if possible, so that all photographs can be considered.
Entrants only may vote, 1 vote, each winning photograph will be displayed in following weeks blog as well as on our profile page.
We also add 1 or 2 "Popular photos"(2nd and 3rd place if you will).
Every month we highlight a "regular" photographer and display their bio on our profile page with a hot link to their album.
We also write informative blogs, and include the links to others instructional blogs as well.

Is this for a prize or for recognition? Curious! Also, I'm also assuming it's only open to people with a myspace account? Reason I'm asking, is you have to be on friends list, from the looks of it ,to see the contest rules.

Correct, you have to be one of their friends, because how it works is posting a image comment in their blog. Then you vote for other images on Saturday. I particpate in the Shutterbug contest, as well as the AC Photos contest (http://www.myspace.com/acphotosac). Both have some great entries and some talented photographers.
